The Third International Deleuze Studies conference Connect, Continue, Create, in collaboration with EYE Film Institute Netherlands, will present several screenings of the documentary “The One All Alone” (2009, Frank Scheffer). The film presents an intimate portrait of the life and works of the famous composer Edgard Varèse (1883 –1965). In the early 20th century, Varèse explored music as an ‘art-science’. Gilles Deleuze was greatly inspired by Varèse’s interdisciplinary approach to music, science and philosophy.

The documentary was previously shown at the Venice film festival and at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam.

The screenings take place on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th at 17.00 o’clock at the Eye Film Institute Netherlands, and will be introduced by Vincent Meelberg. On Wednesday the 14th of July, the screening at 13.30 will be followed by a special Q & A session with the film’s director, Frank Scheffer.
